More About Brainfuse:

Expert Help: Get live online homework help, skills building, writing assistance, and more from Brainfuse-certified tutors.

ON-DEMAND, ONE-TO-ONE HOMEWORK HELP: Students draw or type their question in our online classroom and receive live homework assistance online from a Brainfuse-certified tutor. Tutors are trained to not simply provide answers but to help students master the homework assignment’s underlying academic concepts.

SKILLS BUILDING: The Skills Building service helps students address academic needs that run deeper than homework help. With Skills Building, Brainfuse tutors help students master core academic skills through the same lessons developed for school-based programs.

COMPREHENSIVE WRITING ASSISTANCE: The writing service is unique in that Brainfuse does not merely proof or edit a student’s writing. Drawing from an experienced staff and research-based methodologies, Brainfuse offers students two high quality options:
  • Live Writing Assistance: Patrons receive live writing assistance from Brainfuse tutors via our online classroom, which features intuitive copy/paste technology and secure file sharing. Live writing assistance is particularly helpful during the preparatory stages of the writing process when students need help organizing outlines and developing general themes.

  • Premium Writing Lab: Our premium writing lab offers students an unmatched level of analysis. Patrons submit papers via our secure file sharing feature (no email address required) and our writing experts carefully analyze each paper with respect to voice, word choice, content, sentence fluency, and organization. Papers (complete with constructive comments) are returned to patrons within 24 hours.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE LAB: On-demand homework help and other resources for students who are taking a foreign language class. Spanish is currently supported with other languages to follow.

24/7 QUESTION CENTER: The 24/7 Question Center is ideal for patrons who require a detailed, extended explanation of a difficult concept. Library users simply submit their question and a tutor will respond usually within 24 hours.

ADULT LEARNING CENTER: The Adult Learning Center provides foundational, career-enhancing skills to job seekers. In addition, the Adult Learning Center offers test preparation (including the GED and the USCIS citizenship test), and a unique academic skills center featuring live, online tutors. Help is offered in resume and cover letting writing as well as MS Office skills.

TEST CENTER: The Test Center provides 24/7 access to an ever-expanding library of tests designed for elementary through adult learners. They  include the ACT, SAT, state standardized tests, and more. After completing one of the online assessments, users receive a customized learning plan that suggests specific skills to review with a Brainfuse tutor.

FLASHBULB: Students enjoy 24/7 access to an extensive library of online flashcard sets in hundreds of subjects. Students can also create their own flashcards for efficient self-study.

MEET: Form study groups and meet online with the innovative classroom that features chat, drawing, and audio tools.

BRAINWAVE: Record a movie of your activity on the Brainfuse Notepad, archive it for note-taking purposes, or share it with others. Brainwave is ideal for recording solutions to math or science problems, class projects, or any other concepts that require motion, sequence, or animation.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

August 1, 2012

Talk about having a heat wave. This weather is starting to feel like last year's! Triple digits continue for our state.
So what is a great way to beat the heat? Why, come on in to the Haynie Library and check out a good book, kick back in our lounge area & read under the A/C! We do keep it cool in here. If not, no one would be able to tolerate working with me, because I cannot handle the heat!

We wrapped up our Summer Reading Program at the end of June with an astronomy program. Many kids turned out for the program that was held at the Prague park complete with an astronomer & high powered telescopes for the kids to look through. We also had hot dogs, drinks and door prizes galore. All of the kids and parents both ejoyed looking at the craters on the moon.

During the month of July, we held movie time complete with snacks for the kids every Wednesday morning.

School will be starting soon, so we are hoping to get even more people signed up for library cards.

Friends of the Library have been discussing a fundraiser for the Prague Fall Festival, which is held the first saturday in October. We are thinking maybe holding a raffle for some gift baskets. Plans are still in the making.

Hopefully soon our temperatures will start to cool down.
Have a nice August!

Happy New Year!

Okay, so I am only a month late on that greeting! Better late than never.

I do have some sad news to share....while I was getting ready to write a new post, I was cleaning up my draft list and accidentally deleted all of my former posts. I had no idea if you delete drafts that it would delete your actual posts too! So I guess we will just be starting out fresh with this post.

Getting to Know your Librarian, part 4
A few months ago I was writing about each of the assistant librarians that work here at library. Now I am going to write a little about Pamela Batson, who is the head librarian and director of the library.

Pam grew up in West Virginia, with her twin sister Pat. After graduating from high school she moved to Virgina and had a son, Monty and daughter, Heather.
Pam lived in Vermont and Arizona, eventually moving back to Virginia where she went to work for IBM for twelve years. Pam then moved to New Mexico and took a job with Intel where she stayed thirteen years. Shortly after moving to Oklahoma to be closer to her daughter, Pam took the job as Director of the Prague Library, where she has now worked for six years.

She has 4 grandkids, Jacob and Michael Owens and Morgan and Logan Lunceford. Some of Pam's hobbies are swimming, flower arranging and antique shopping.

Next time I will be writing about our two high school volunteers.

Computer Class
Haynie Library is offering another free computer class on February 17th from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. The topic on this class is "Learning About New Websites". You may call 567-4013 to sign up. Laptop computers are available but if you have your own, please bring it.

Friends of the Library
If you have not ever been a FOLmember, please consider joining this wonderful and fun group. The fee to join is $10 for individual membership or $15 per year for family membership. Corporate dues are $25 for Bronze; $50 for Silver; $75 for Gold and $100 for Platinum.  We meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 12 noon, at the library's meeting room. The meetings generally last an hour or less. Feel free to bring a lunch with you. The FOL usually has about 2 fundraisers a year, one being our annual mum sale we have at the Pumpkin Festival each year and another being a book and garage sale combined. We could sure use more people to join up with some fresh ideas.
